Why does Molar Conductivity () increase upon dilution?.
Expert Answer
Molar conductance depends on two factors - the number of ions (Major) and the mobility of ions (Minor). With dilution, the degree of dissociation increases for weak electrolytes, adding more ions to the solution and mobility also increases (for both weak and strong electrolytes). This ensures that even if number of ions remain same (strong electrolyte), better mobility will help increase Molar/Equivalent conductance.
