Elevation in BP and Depression in FPSolutions
Ethylene glycol is used as antifreeze. If you keep increasing the concentration of ethylene glycol in water indefinitely, will the freezing point keep dropping forever?.
Expert Answer
No. It will drop until it reaches the eutectic point (the lowest possible freezing point for that mixture). Beyond that concentration, the solute (ethylene glycol) begins to crystallize out rather than the solvent (water), and the freezing point starts to rise.
