Among the following, the set of parameters that represents path functions is: (i)   (ii)   (iii)   (iv)
- a✓
(ii) and (iii)
- b
(i), (ii), and (iii)
- c
(ii), (iii) and (iv)
- d
(i) and (iv)
(ii) and (iii)
🧠 Path functions and depend on the route taken (heat) and (work) both change depending on how a process is carried out — they are path functions. Their sum is a state function (First Law). (Gibbs energy) is also a state function.
So only (ii) and (iii) are path functions → option (a).
⚠️ Don't be misled by (i): equals , which is a state function — even though each individual term is a path function.
